A-Square is totally unique in its offering of the Triad of bullets.
In each caliber, A-Square has selected the primary bullet weight. Given that bullet weight, A-Square makes three, or a Triad, of bullets. These are the Monolithic Solid, the Dead Tough Soft Point, and the Lion Load Soft Point.
Despite their differing core compositions, and other internal features, the A-Squ
are Triad of bullets has exactly the same exterior configuration and nose shape. They have precisely the same trajectory. These three bullets are all interchangeable with respect to retained velocity and energy, trajectory, and zero. They zero the same and fly the same.
No other manufacturer comes close to this totally unique feat.
The A-Square Monolithic Solid is the bullet which maximizes penetration and sacrifices expansion. The purpose of a solid is to penetrate through the massive bulk of an elephant, buffalo, or rhino and hit the brain or other vital organs. A solid is also suitable for lengthwise shots on plains game when the animal is running straight away. For these purposes, the A-Square Monolithic Solid is the best bullet made.
Mode 1 Failures (riveting) and mode 2 failures (base flattening or fishtailing) abound with all lead cored FMJ's or "solids." Data indicates that on at least 1 shot out of every 3, conventional FMJ bullets will rivet and rupture (which stops penetration), or fishtail (which causes the bullet to deviate from its intended path).
The A-Square Monolithic Solid solves these problems by eliminating he lead core and by designing the exterior shape for maximum stability during penetration. It invariably penetrates deep and straight. The Monolithic Solid is made from a single alloy and gains its strength through homogeneity, not rigidity or hardness. The surface of the Monolithic Solid is actually softer than the surface of a steel jacketed FMJ. Consequently, it delivers higher velocities with less pressure and less barrel wear. When penetration is desired, the Monolithic Solid is the best bullet in existence.
The A-Square Dead Tough Soft Point is the bullet of choice for all general purpose hunting. It is the bullet which gives both penetration and controlled expansion. It is appropriate for the smallest deer or antelope all the way up to the largest buffalo and eland. The A-Square Dead Tough Soft Point is significantly different from competing bull
ets in its external and internal dimensions, composition of core, method of bonding core to jacket, and other features. It offers truly controlled expansion.
It will expand a little at extremely low velocity or long range, and yet will stop over-expansion at high velocity at close range. The classic mushroom cap expansion of competing soft points has so much surface area that it actually stops penetration and is about as stable as a warped frisbee.
The Dead Tough expands between one-quarter and one-third of the way down the shank. This leaves at least the remaining two-thirds of the bullet undisturbed. This long tail keeps the bullet stable and on a straight path within the animal. This is essential on a raking shot or in order to take the far lung or the far shoulder on a broadside shot. For general purpose use on all prey animals, there is nothing better than the Dead Tough.
The A-Square Lion Load is at the opposite end of the spectrum from the Monolith
ic Solid. The Lion Load sacrifices penetration in exchange for maximum destruction. The bullet is designed to turn itself inside out like a self-forged munition and launch the core of the bullet as secondary fragments in a radial pattern.
The Lion Load bullet creates maximum possible tissue destruction. However, it only penetrates between 12 and 24 inches. Consequently, it should be used only for those animals with a thin skin and lightweight bone structure, specifically predator animals.
The Lion Load is extremely useful for lion across the bait or in a charge, or other hunting situations where penetration can be traded off for maximum expansion.
